
Emerson is back in BP’s toolkit
Emerson is helping BP automate the Shah Deniz compression project, an offshore setup where you really do not want to be playing “guess what’s leaking” in real time. The company says its integrated control and safety systems will handle process control, safety shutdown, fire and gas detection, and power management.
Why that matters
This isn’t just a fancy checkbox for an offshore rig. BP wants the platform to run remotely, safely, and with better reliability — basically the industrial version of putting your house on smart-home mode, except the house is in the middle of the ocean and the stakes are a lot higher.
