New money, same old search giant
Earnings season is basically confession season on Wall Street — and Alphabet just got a nice little ego boost. The headline here is simple: Warren Buffett wasn’t the only billionaire piling into GOOG in Q2.
That matters because when a bunch of ultra-rich investors are adding to the same stock, it’s usually not because they woke up and got bored. They’re making a bet that Alphabet still has room to run, even after years of being the giant in the room.
Why this one hits investor radar
Alphabet has been fighting the usual mix of anxieties:
- AI spending is expensive, and investors love to act like every dollar of capex is a personal insult
- Search is under pressure from the AI era
- Cloud growth has to keep proving it’s more than a supporting character
So when billionaires keep buying, it suggests the “Google is dead” crowd may still be a little ahead of themselves. At minimum, it says the smart-money camp thinks Alphabet’s balance of AI, ads, and cloud is still a pretty solid long-term setup.
Big picture
You don’t need every billionaire to agree on a stock to make it work. But when they do line up, it’s worth paying attention. Alphabet may not be the flashiest AI trade — but it’s starting to look like one of the most durable ones.
