Insider sale alert
Viavi Solutions director Laura A. Black sold 71,000 shares on August 17th at $46.12 a pop, pocketing roughly $3.3 million.
Why investors care
Insider sales can make the market squint a little: is this just portfolio housekeeping, or is someone closer to the business quietly taking chips off the table? In this case, it’s a sizable sale, so traders may at least file it under "worth a glance."
That said, one director sale by itself isn’t a smoking gun. People sell for all kinds of reasons — taxes, diversification, or because their financial planner gave them the classic "maybe don’t keep all your eggs in one ticker" speech.
The bigger picture
The timing matters a bit because Viavi just reported Q4 results earlier this month, so investors are already parsing the latest numbers and any signs of momentum. A fresh insider sale can add a little extra static to the tape, even if it doesn’t rewrite the story.
Big picture: insider transactions don’t always predict the future, but they do give you a peek at what the people inside the castle are doing with their own chips.
