GE Vernova just scored a fresh contract to help power the third stage of Quinbrook’s Supernode Battery Energy Storage System in Queensland, Australia. That’s not just a nice little ribbon-cutting moment — it expands GE Vernova’s role across all three stages of one of Australia’s largest battery storage projects.
What exactly did it win?
The company is providing the unglamorous-but-very-important stuff that makes big battery projects actually work: power conversion, plant controls, system integration, and grid-connection support. In other words, it’s the plumbing, wiring, and traffic cop all rolled into one.
Stage 3 adds 260 megawatts and 1,216 megawatt-hours of four-hour storage, bringing the full Supernode site to 780 MW and 3,075 MWh once completed. GE Vernova also said the stage has already cleared Generator Performance Standards acceptance, which is a key grid-connection milestone. Translation: this thing isn’t just a concept sketch on a napkin.
