New ride, same app
Uber is adding a little more “why open another app?” energy to its product. The company said it’s teaming up with Zoomcar so travelers using the Zoomcar app can also browse and book Uber Intercity rides when they’d rather skip the self-drive route.
Why this matters
For Uber, this isn’t some gigantic revenue moonshot on day one. But it is the kind of partnership that can make the platform stickier. If you’re already planning a road trip, Uber wants to be part of the decision before your bag even hits the trunk.
The travel-planning hustle
The pitch is simple:
- want to drive yourself? Zoomcar’s got the rental angle
- want someone else to handle the wheel? Uber Intercity is there too
That’s a neat little example of Uber widening its tent beyond the classic city ride. It also shows the company is still hunting for ways to own more of the transportation journey, not just the final 15 minutes of it.
Big picture: partnerships like this usually won’t move the stock alone, but they do add up. Uber keeps stacking distribution, and in platform land, that’s often half the battle.
