Another seat at the turnaround table
Kohl’s is shuffling the deck again, this time naming Arianne Parisi as its new Chief Customer Officer. She’ll report to CEO Michael J. Bender, which is corporate-speak for: this role matters.
Why investors should care
Retail turnarounds live and die on whether customers actually want to show up. A chief customer officer can shape everything from loyalty programs to marketing to store experience — basically all the stuff that decides whether shoppers treat Kohl’s like a regular stop or an occasional “eh, maybe.”
The bigger picture
This isn’t the kind of announcement that moves a stock on its own like a surprise earnings beat would. But it does tell you management is still actively tuning the machine. When a retailer keeps adjusting who owns the customer relationship, it usually means the company is trying to find the right formula before the next quarter’s numbers become the main event.
Big picture: in retail, the customer is the product, the boss, and the final exam all at once.
