The setup
Credo Technology is getting the classic “nice story, ugly price” treatment. The latest read says the stock still deserves a sell because it’s trading like a winner while carrying a bunch of runner-up baggage.
What’s bothering investors?
The company’s growth mix is changing, and not in the cozy way bulls would like. Its high-margin Active Electrical Cables business is giving way to optics, where competition is tougher and margins can get pinched faster than a Zoom call on bad Wi‑Fi.
On top of that, Credo’s DustPhotonics acquisition brings integration risk right when the company probably wants less drama, not more.
The customer risk is real
Here’s the part that should make investors sit up a little straighter: the top two customers account for 61% of sales, and there are no long-term purchase commitments in place. That means a lot of revenue depends on a small number of buyers staying happy, ordering steadily, and not suddenly discovering a shinier alternative.
- Rich valuation
- Lower-margin product mix shift
- Acquisition integration risk
- Heavy customer concentration
Big picture
The stock already took a 33% drawdown, but the bear case says that may not be enough of a reset if execution gets messy. In other words: sometimes a cheaper-looking stock is still expensive if the business risks keep piling up.
