New money, same momentum
SoFi stock is doing the happy dance again Thursday, and this time the spark looks like fresh institutional buying. Philadelphia Investment Partners disclosed a new $1.07 million position, which is the market’s version of a thumbs-up from someone wearing a very expensive suit.
Why investors care
This matters because institutional inflows can act like a credibility magnet. If professional money is willing to buy after SoFi’s big recent run, it suggests the “maybe this is more than a meme-era leftover” conversation is still in play.
The bigger backdrop
The stock’s strength isn’t happening in a vacuum, either. SoFi’s late-July second-quarter update was a monster:
- revenue hit a record $1.22 billion, up 43% year over year
- adjusted EPS came in at 12 cents, ahead of Wall Street’s expectations
- membership grew by a record 1.1 million, bringing the total to 15.8 million
- management raised full-year 2026 revenue guidance to $4.75 billion–$4.85 billion
That combo — stronger growth, better profitability, and rising guidance — is basically catnip for investors who’ve been waiting for the company to prove it can scale without tripping over its own shoelaces.
Big picture
SoFi is still in the “show me” phase with the market, but the bar is moving in its favor. Fresh institutional buying plus a better operating picture is exactly the sort of recipe that can keep a rally alive even when the broader mood gets wobbly.
