New legs for the robotaxi story
Tesla’s Robotaxi team says riders can now hail a driverless ride from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., every day of the week, in every city where the service is live. In plain English: the company is trying to make robotaxi feel less like a stunt and more like an actual business.
Bigger fleet, same Tesla playbook
The post also said Tesla has put more unsupervised cars on the road, though it didn’t hand over the exact numbers. The company says it upgraded how it distributes and routes vehicles, which should mean shorter waits and fewer awkward moments staring at your phone like it owes you money.
Why the stock cares
This all lands just before Tesla’s purpose-built Cybercab is set to make its public debut in Austin on September 3rd. If Tesla can keep expanding service and tightening the logistics, it gives investors another reason to believe the autonomy story is moving from sci-fi trailer to actual product roadmap.
Big picture: Tesla doesn’t need every robotaxi headline to be a moonshot. It just needs enough of them to keep reminding Wall Street that autonomy is still the main plot, not the side quest.
