Chips to the rescue
Wall Street spent the day in its “let the megacaps do the heavy lifting” era. The Nasdaq Composite jumped 1.57% and the S&P 500 added 0.71%, with chip strength doing the most obvious flex in the room.
Why you should care
If you own QQQ, this is your reminder that the ETF lives and dies by a fairly small club of giant tech names. When Nvidia and friends catch a bid, the index can sprint like it just heard the ice cream truck.
The boring-but-important takeaway
The Dow was up too, but only 0.20%, which is basically the market equivalent of a polite nod. The real story was the tech tape: investors were willing to buy semis and growth again, and that tends to matter a lot more for Nasdaq-heavy portfolios than for old-economy laggards.
Big picture: when chips lead, the whole tech complex usually gets a nicer backdrop. For QQQ holders, that’s the difference between a sluggish day and a “hey, my portfolio woke up” day.
