Apple TV, now with a little more sticker shock
Apple is nudging up the price of Apple TV from $12.99 to $14.99 a month. If you prefer paying once and forgetting about it, the annual plan is also moving higher, from $99 to $119.
Why investors should care
This is the kind of move that sounds boring until you remember services are the shiny engine in Apple's growth story. A higher subscription price can mean more revenue per user without Apple having to ship a single extra iPhone, which is the dream, right?
But there’s always a catch. Push prices too far and some subscribers start eyeing the cancel button like it’s the last lifeboat on a sinking ship. So the real question is whether Apple TV is sticky enough to absorb the hike without turning into churn city.
The bigger picture
For Apple, this is another reminder that the company keeps trying to squeeze more value out of its ecosystem. Hardware gets the headlines, but the services bundle is where the recurring cash-flow magic lives.
Big picture: if customers stay put, this is a quiet win for Apple’s margins. If they don’t, well, that “premium” vibe gets a little less premium.
