Beat first, brag later
G-III Apparel came in with second-quarter numbers that looked better than the company expected, even if sales were still down from last year. Net income per diluted share landed at $0.46 on a GAAP basis and $0.26 on a non-GAAP basis, both topping guidance — the corporate version of showing up late but still bringing dessert.
The real investor candy: guidance
The bigger headline for shareholders is that management raised both GAAP and non-GAAP net income guidance for fiscal 2027, excluding Marc Jacobs. That’s the kind of move that says, “We’re not just surviving the season — we think the rack is getting nicer.”
Marc Jacobs is officially in the cart
G-III also completed its Marc Jacobs acquisition, which gives it more fuel for its long-term plan to hit $1 billion in annual revenue. The company said its go-forward portfolio sales are up in the high-single digits, a decent sign that the brand mix is improving even as total net sales came in at $554.1 million versus $613.3 million a year ago.
Big picture
For investors, this is one of those “results were fine, but the guidance is the story” quarters. The stock-friendly combo here is simple: better-than-expected profits, a higher outlook, and a newly closed deal that could help G-III look more like a growth story and less like a closet full of seasonal markdowns.
