Cloudflare wants to be your cyberbodyguard
Cloudflare is taking another swing at the AI-security combo platter. The company said it’s launching Vulnerability Discovery and Remediation in early access through Cloudflare Managed Defense, pairing OpenAI Daybreak models with Cloudflare’s own global traffic and security signals.
The pitch: less whack-a-mole, more autopilot
Instead of making security teams manually sift through code and chase bugs like it’s a never-ending game of digital whack-a-mole, the system is meant to do two things:
- dig into code more deeply to spot vulnerabilities
- generate automated patches to help fix them faster
That’s a pretty nice story if you’re Cloudflare, because it turns the company from “fast internet plumbing” into “AI-powered security command center.”
Why investors might lean in
For NET holders, this matters less because of the headline and more because of the direction of travel. Cloudflare keeps trying to attach higher-value AI and security tools to its network, which can help it sell more to enterprise customers and make the platform feel a lot stickier.
And in cloud land, sticky is good. Sticky means less churn, more upsell, and fewer customers wandering off to the next shiny vendor with a PowerPoint and a dream.
Big picture
This doesn’t scream overnight blockbuster revenue. But it does reinforce the bigger Cloudflare narrative: the company is trying to climb up the stack, where the margins and the strategic value tend to live.
