New hires, new bags of stock
MicroVision just said it granted 674,536 restricted stock units to newly appointed Chief Commercial Officer James Byun and 562,114 RSUs to newly appointed CFO Christine Chambers. The grants were made on September 2 and are meant as material inducements for them to join the company.
The fine print matters
The RSUs vest over four years, with 25% kicking in on each anniversary of their start dates. Translation: MicroVision isn’t just hiring these executives and handing them a welcome basket. It’s trying to keep them around for the long haul.
Why investors should care
For a smaller company like MicroVision, equity-heavy pay packages can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, they help recruit experienced leaders without draining cash. On the other, they add dilution and signal that the company is still in build-mode, where talent and execution matter just as much as the product story.
Big picture: this isn’t the kind of headline that changes the world by itself, but it does tell you MicroVision is still shoring up its leadership team — and doing it with shares, not scissors and paperclips.
