A little pumpkin spice, a little comic strip nostalgia
Starbucks is teaming up with Peanuts for a merch collection celebrating The Great Pumpkin’s 60th anniversary. Translation: the coffee giant is once again using beloved pop culture to make your morning latte feel like a collector’s item.
The company hasn’t exactly invented a new growth engine here. But branded drops like this can help keep Starbucks in the conversation, especially when consumers are picky, budgets are tight, and a cute tumbler can do half the marketing for you.
Why investors should care
This probably isn’t a needle-mover on its own. Still, it fits Starbucks’ broader playbook: sell more than coffee, turn stores into mini lifestyle shops, and squeeze a little extra brand heat out of seasonal moments.
If the collection lands well, it can support merchandise sales and traffic around a high-visibility holiday window. If it flops, well, at least Snoopy got another cameo.
Big picture: Starbucks is betting that nostalgia still sells—and sometimes a cartoon beagle can do what an earnings call can’t.
