Goldman's trying to grab the good seat
Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are reportedly near the top of the roster for Anthropic’s much-talked-about IPO, which is being floated at a jaw-dropping $2 trillion valuation. That’s not a typo. That’s the kind of number that makes even jaded bankers sit up straighter in their chairs.
Why this matters for Goldman
If Goldman lands a prime advisory or underwriting role, it could collect fees from one of the buzziest AI listings on the horizon. And in the investment banking world, landing the glamorous deal is half the battle — the other half is pretending you weren’t definitely trying that hard.
The IPO rumor mill does its thing
A couple of caveats: this is still a report, not a deal announcement, and IPO plans can change faster than a group chat after someone says “be there at 7.” So for now, this is more of a prestige-watch item than a guaranteed revenue event.
Big picture: if Anthropic really heads toward public markets at that kind of valuation, the banks near the top of the process could get a very nice day in the sun — and Goldman would like a few more of those, thank you very much.
