Visa wants crypto to feel less crypto
Visa is back with another “we’re not just a card company” move, this time bringing onchain lending into everyday payments. Translation: it’s trying to make blockchain-based lending stuff feel as boring and usable as tapping your card for coffee.
Why investors should care
If Visa can keep stitching crypto tooling into normal payment flows, it strengthens the case that the company is becoming a tollbooth for next-gen money movement. That could mean more relevance, more volume, and fewer “is this a fad?” questions from investors.
The bigger play
This is also classic Visa: don’t fight the future, help route it.
- It keeps Visa embedded in the transaction stack
- It gives the company optionality if stablecoins and onchain finance keep growing
- It nudges investors to think of Visa as payments infrastructure, not just plastic rectangles and swipe fees
Big picture: Visa is trying to make the weird new corners of finance look a lot like the old, very profitable ones.
