Profit? Nice. Outlook? Oof.
Lovesac just did the corporate version of saying, “Good news first, but don’t get too excited.” The direct-to-consumer furniture brand swung to a profit in Q2 and nudged up its earnings outlook for full-year 2027. That’s the kind of headline that should make investors sit up — if not for the giant asterisk sitting right next to it.
The market focused on the part nobody wanted
The problem was Q3. Lovesac’s loss guidance for the current quarter looked softer than investors wanted, and it also trimmed its annual net sales outlook. In other words: the long-term story may still have some cushions left, but the near-term couch looks a little lumpy.
Shares promptly dropped 12.7%, which is Wall Street’s way of saying, “Cool profit, but show me the demand.” That reaction tells you the market is still laser-focused on whether Lovesac can keep growing without having to lean too hard on promotions, inventory moves, or optimistic language.
Big picture
For investors, this is the classic growth-stock tug-of-war: better profitability on one side, wobblier sales on the other. Lovesac may be proving it can make money, but until the top line stops acting like a mood swing, the stock probably stays in the penalty box.
