The analyst call isn’t bearish — but it’s definitely cooler
AeroVironment got the kind of note that makes traders squint: B of A Securities kept a Buy rating, but cut its price target to $185 from $225. That’s not a full-throated sell, but it is a meaningful haircut — and the stock didn’t exactly take it as a compliment.
Why the market is still grumpy
The bigger issue is that AVAV has already been in the penalty box for a while. Shares were down 3.53% at $141.88 in Friday trading, hovering near the 52-week low of $135.19. When a stock is already living close to the floor, even a “still like it” analyst call can feel like someone lowering the ceiling in your apartment.
The Street is still split-ish
B of A’s move comes after a couple of other recent tweaks:
- Citizens kept a Market Outperform rating and held its target at $230 on Sept. 10
- JPMorgan raised its target to $210 on Sept. 10 while keeping an Overweight rating
So no, this isn’t a unanimous doom parade. But the lower target reinforces the idea that analysts are dialing back expectations even as they still like the long-term story.
Big picture
For investors, this is less about one analyst’s spreadsheet and more about sentiment. AeroVironment is in a technical downtrend, and when the Street starts trimming targets while the stock is already weak, that can keep buyers on the sidelines until the company gives them a fresher reason to jump back in.
