SES wants to be the control tower
SES announced SES CORE, a new content orchestration and hybrid delivery platform built to unify satellite, fiber, and IP distribution under one interface. In plain English: instead of juggling three different pipes like a caffeinated stage manager, customers get one dashboard.
Why this matters
For a satellite company, this is less “cool new widget” and more “please don’t think of us as just old-school space plumbing.” SES is trying to make its network easier to use and harder to rip out by wrapping it in software and orchestration.
That matters because broadcasters and media customers care about reliability, flexibility, and cost. If SES can become the layer customers interact with every day, it gets a lot stickier — and sticky customers tend to be better customers.
The investor angle
This doesn’t scream instant revenue fireworks, but it does hint at a broader strategy: use hybrid delivery tools to keep SES relevant as content distribution keeps getting more complicated. Big picture: companies that turn infrastructure into a platform usually have a better shot at defending pricing power than companies that just sell pipes.
