A little AI spotlight for Nokia
Nokia didn’t suddenly reinvent itself overnight, but Jensen Huang did give the stock a fresh jolt of relevance. At the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference, the NVIDIA CEO called 6G “physical AI” and pointed to the companies’ work on AI-RAN — basically NVIDIA’s AI stack welded onto telecom infrastructure.
That matters because it nudges Nokia further into the “maybe this is an AI infrastructure story too” bucket. If telecom networks can act like distributed edge data centers, as Huang suggested, then Nokia isn’t just selling yesterday’s network gear. It’s trying to help build the plumbing for tomorrow’s AI-heavy internet.
Why investors care
The market loves a good narrative upgrade, and this one gives Nokia something bigger than routine handset-adjacent telecom chatter. Shares were up in premarket trading, and the buzz also lifted trading volume after Huang singled the company out.
A few things to watch:
- Nokia is still trading well below its 100-day moving average, so the chart isn’t exactly doing cartwheels.
- But the AI-RAN angle gives bulls a fresh excuse to believe the company has a seat at the next network upgrade cycle.
- NVIDIA’s endorsement can act like a megaphone. Sometimes that matters almost as much as the tech itself.
Big picture
This is less about a new contract and more about a louder story. In markets, that can be half the battle. If AI keeps creeping into telecom infrastructure, Nokia may not be a sleepy network name for much longer.
