Schwab’s latest local flex
Charles Schwab Bank is teaming up with The DEC Network for the next phase of a partnership that’s already supporting more than 9,000 entrepreneurs a year. The centerpiece is Create Fort Worth, a new innovation center meant to help local founders get the kind of support that can turn a side hustle into an actual company.
What the center is supposed to do
Think of it as a startup gym, minus the dumbbells:
- business education
- financial education
- mentorship
- networking
That mix matters because early-stage founders often don’t fail because they lack ambition. They fail because they need guidance, connections, and someone to explain the difference between “revenue” and “cash in the bank” without making it feel like homework.
Why investors should care
This isn’t a revenue-moving megadeal, but it does show Schwab leaning into community banking and entrepreneur relationships. That can pay off in softer ways: stronger brand loyalty, more small-business ties, and a bigger pipeline of future clients who may someday need banking, brokerage, and wealth-management services.
Big picture: not every strategic move comes with a flashy earnings pop. Sometimes it looks like a new office, a lot of mentoring, and a long game for customer relationships.
