Nokia’s networking glow-up
Nokia is expanding its 800G optics footprint through a collaboration with Telxius, which plans to use the company’s ICE-X 800G ZR/ZR+ tech across terrestrial transport networks in Europe, the U.S., and Latin America. Translation: more data can move through the pipes without the whole system sweating like it’s running a marathon in a winter coat.
Why investors should care
This isn’t just a fancy speed bump. The rollout is meant to help Telxius scale existing infrastructure using IP-over-DWDM while cutting power consumption and space requirements, which is the telecom equivalent of getting more storage and better battery life on the same phone.
The unsexy stuff that matters
The companies also said the deployment adds network automation for visibility, fault and performance monitoring, and coordinated service provisioning. That sounds boring, but boring is often where the margins hide.
Big picture
For Nokia, deals like this help prove its networking gear is still relevant in a market that loves talking about AI, cloud, and bandwidth as if they’re magic beans. If carriers keep spending on higher-capacity routes, Nokia gets to keep selling the shovels.
