Ondas is still in shopping mode
Ondas is back with another defense-flavored acquisition, this time announcing a $390 million deal for GATE Technologies. If that sounds like a company trying to build a mini defense empire, well... that’s because it is.
The move fits Ondas’ recent pivot toward defense and tactical tech, where the pitch is basically: less “one product company,” more “platform with optionality.” That can be exciting if the deals close cleanly and the assets actually fit together. It can also get messy fast if integration turns into a corporate Jenga tower.
Why investors care
For shareholders, the key question is whether Ondas is buying growth or just buying complexity. A $390 million price tag isn’t pocket change, especially for a company still building out its identity. The upside is obvious: bigger footprint, broader defense exposure, and potentially more revenue muscle. The risk is equally obvious: execution, financing, and whether the market buys the transformation story.
Big picture
Ondas is trying to recast itself as a defense-tech consolidator. If it works, great — you get a company with more scale and a clearer story. If not, you get the kind of dealmaking that makes investors reach for antacids.
