The nuclear version of “we’re talking”
NuScale Power executives say they’re feeling good about the progress of a framework agreement with the Tennessee Valley Authority. Translation: the company is still in the courting phase, but the date is going well enough that somebody’s talking about a second one.
Why investors are paying attention
For small modular reactors, the hardest part isn’t the science-fair presentation. It’s getting a serious buyer to commit. A deal with TVA would be the kind of real-world stamp of approval that helps NuScale argue this isn’t just futuristic PowerPoint energy.
- TVA is a huge name in U.S. power, so any agreement carries more weight than a random industry handshake.
- A framework agreement can become a launchpad for future deployment, which matters more than vibes and press releases.
- If the relationship keeps advancing, it could boost confidence that SMRs are moving from concept to commercialization.
Big picture
NuScale still has to turn progress into signed paper and, eventually, a project that actually gets built. But in nuclear land, even incremental progress can matter — because if you can convince one major utility, the rest of the market starts paying attention too.
