New gear, same Stryker playbook
Stryker is using the 2026 American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society Annual Meeting in Seattle as a launchpad for two new additions: Prophecy Surgical Planning for the Incompass Total Ankle System and Hoffmann LRF smartHEX.
The headline item is Prophecy, which now comes with Incompass and gives surgeons 3D visualization plus both resect-through and pin-through fixation options inside one connected platform. In plain English: it’s the kind of software-plus-hardware combo that can make a surgeon’s life easier and make the ecosystem harder to leave.
Why investors should care
This isn’t a moonshot announcement, but it does matter. Medical-device companies love these incremental upgrades because they can deepen customer loyalty, support pricing power, and keep the product line feeling current without needing a blockbuster FDA moment.
- More patient-specific planning history: Prophecy has already been used in more than 100,000 ankle cases over 14 years.
- More portfolio breadth: Hoffmann LRF smartHEX adds another tool to the Foot & Ankle stack.
- More stickiness: connected platforms tend to be less “buy once, forget forever” and more “come back for the whole suite.”
Big picture
For Stryker, this looks like classic portfolio polish rather than a giant catalyst. Still, in medtech, lots of little upgrades can add up the way tiny LEGO pieces somehow become a spaceship.
