New deal, bigger ambition
Co-Diagnostics is linking up with ReadyGo to see if its Co-Dx PCR platform can do something that sounds obvious but is actually tricky: run blood-based molecular tests closer to the patient instead of shipping samples off to some faraway lab like it's 2009.
The first target is Ebola, which is a pretty serious way to kick off a collaboration. If the combo of ReadyGo's GoCollect sample prep and Co-Dx PCR tech works as advertised, the company says it could eventually open the door to other blood-based tests too — think HIV and hepatitis B and C.
Why investors should care
For a small diagnostics company, the difference between "nice tech" and "real market" is often whether the platform can be used in more settings. If Co-Dx can make blood-based testing easier at the point of need, that could expand the platform's commercial runway and make the whole story more than just one narrow use case.
- First application: decentralized Ebola detection
- Potential follow-on markets: HIV and hepatitis B/C
- Core idea: combine sample prep with PCR to make testing faster and more portable
The coffee-shop version
This isn't a revenue fireworks moment yet. But it is the kind of partnership that can matter if it turns into actual product adoption. In diagnostics, platform expansion is the whole game — one good use case can snowball into a much bigger menu.
Big picture: Co-Diagnostics is trying to turn its PCR tech from a single-dish restaurant into a full buffet.
