Hafnia just kept buying
Hafnia Limited is back in the market, this time agreeing to pick up an additional 4.5 million A shares of TORM plc for $32.25 each. That’s about $145.1 million in fresh share-snack money and takes Hafnia’s ownership in TORM to roughly 18.22% once the deal closes.
Why investors should care
This isn’t your run-of-the-mill “someone bought a few shares” trade. When a major shareholder keeps building a stake, it can matter for governance, strategic direction, and the odds that more corporate action shows up later. In other words: the cap table is getting more crowded, and that usually means somebody’s thinking bigger than a one-off trade.
For TORM holders, the immediate takeaway is pretty simple:
- A large outside investor is getting more control-like exposure
- The purchase price of $32.25 gives you a clean reference point for how Hafnia values the stock
- Bigger ownership stakes can sometimes lead to louder conversations about strategy, influence, or even future transactions
Big picture
On paper, this is just another share purchase. In practice, it’s a reminder that shipping companies can trade like they’re in a poker game where everyone can see the chips. Big picture: Hafnia now has even more skin in the TORM game, and that can make the next move around the table a lot more interesting.
