Sotyktu’s encore
Bristol Myers Squibb is back with a new chapter in the Sotyktu story, and this one is all about staying power. The company shared long-term results from the Phase 3 POETYK PsA-2 trial and its open-label extension, showing that deucravacitinib kept delivering durable efficacy and a consistent safety profile over two years in adults with active psoriatic arthritis.
The two-year test
That matters because drug launches don’t live or die on a shiny first-quarter data drop. They live on the long haul. In the continuous-treatment group, observed ACR 20/50/70 response rates at Week 104 came in at 76.2%, 52.6%, and 34.6%, while the placebo-switch cohort also held up well after moving to active treatment. The vibe here: not a one-hit wonder.
The trial’s earlier readout already showed the drug clearing its main bar, and now the company is trying to prove Sotyktu can be a durable option rather than just a promising newcomer. No new safety signals is the kind of phrase biotech investors like to hear almost as much as “statistically significant.”
Why investors should care
Sotyktu got FDA approval for active psoriatic arthritis in March, so the commercial story is now the real plotline. If doctors see this as a treatment that keeps working without turning into a safety headache, it can help Bristol Myers build a more credible long-term franchise in immunology.
Big picture: this is less about fireworks and more about endurance. In biotech, sometimes the most bullish thing you can say is simply, “it still works.”
