ARK says ‘more, please’
Cathie Wood’s ARK Investment Management just added to its CoreWeave stash, scooping up 239,083 shares worth roughly $19.1 million across ARKK and ARKW. In other words: while CRWV was getting smacked around in the market, ARK was apparently doing the investing version of buying the dip.
The ETF buffet of CRWV exposure
CoreWeave isn’t just living in ARK’s portfolio. It’s showing up across a small army of ETFs, including AI, cloud, tech, and innovation funds. And the weights aren’t tiny either:
- Renaissance IPO ETF: 9.67%
- iShares Future AI & Tech ETF: 3.73%
- ARK Next Generation Internet ETF: 3.71%
- Roundhill Generative AI & Technology ETF: 2.51%
- ARK Innovation ETF: 2.46%
- First Trust Cloud Computing ETF: 2.28%
That’s a lot of fund managers effectively saying, “yes, we’d like a little more AI infrastructure, thanks.”
Why everyone wants in
The bull case is straightforward: AI demand is still eating compute like a teenager at an all-you-can-eat buffet. CoreWeave said it added more than $25 billion in customer commitments in early Q3 2026 and bumped contracted power capacity from 3.7 GW to 4.2 GW as of Aug. 11. It also said short-term compute contracts are being signed at prices implying about $40 million in annualized revenue per megawatt.
The catch: growth costs money
Here’s the part that makes investors squint. CoreWeave plans to issue $3 billion of convertible notes and has an ATM program that could let it sell up to 35 million Class A shares. Add it up and the company could tap roughly $6.3 billion in financing capacity.
That helps fuel growth, sure. But it also means dilution is hanging around like an uninvited plus-one. Big picture: CoreWeave is one of the clearest ways to bet on the AI spend wave — just don’t forget the bill for the wave machine.
