A fresh orange dot tease
Michael Saylor did what Michael Saylor does: he posted Strategy’s Bitcoin accumulation chart on X and hinted that the company might be ready to start buying again. His line — “A good time to add more dots” — was the kind of cryptic weekend breadcrumb that usually makes Bitcoin traders and MSTR holders perk up.
Why investors care
Strategy had paused new Bitcoin purchases for about three weeks, even selling 6,916 BTC earlier in the summer to shore up cash reserves. The company then re-entered the market on Aug. 31, buying 4,603 BTC for $370 million at an average price of $80,382 per coin. Since then? Crickets, at least on the acquisition front.
If Strategy really does add more BTC, that’s not just a hobby update. It reinforces the company’s identity as a corporate Bitcoin whale, which is why MSTR often trades like a turbocharged version of the coin itself.
The bigger backdrop
Bitcoin has been climbing again, with the article pointing to a recent weekly gain of more than 5% as crypto regulation chatter in Washington improved the mood. Meanwhile, Strategy says it holds 845,050 BTC — a stash worth roughly $69 billion — and is sitting on billions in unrealized losses, even after earlier periods of big gains.
Big picture: when Saylor talks orange, MSTR investors listen. A new purchase announcement would be another reminder that this stock is less “software company” and more “Bitcoin on steroids.”
