AI just barged into the summit agenda
Bloomberg says the upcoming Trump-Xi talks are shaping up to be about more than diplomatic photo ops and polite handshakes. AI is expected to be a major topic, which is shorthand for: the US and China are still in a high-stakes tech arm-wrestling match, and nobody’s pretending otherwise.
For investors, that matters because AI policy isn’t some abstract think-tank hobby. It can affect export controls, chip demand, cloud spending, and which companies get to sell what, where, and to whom. In other words: one summit can make the tech stack feel very political, very fast.
The part that’s not the headline
The same Bloomberg item says Paramount reached a settlement with California and other states that were trying to block its proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. That’s a real development, but in this blurb it reads more like a separate subplot than the main event.

Big picture
When geopolitics and AI collide, investors get extra homework. The market may not get a policy answer right away, but it will absolutely start gaming out winners, losers, and who’s suddenly at the mercy of a meeting agenda.
