More orange, more drama
Strategy filed an 8-K saying it picked up 950 bitcoin between Sept. 14 and Sept. 20 for about $75.7 million, at an average price of $79,670 per coin. If you’ve been following Michael Saylor’s playbook, you know the vibe: when the company’s buying, the market tends to perk up like it just heard the pizza guy is outside.
The stash just keeps getting bigger
The company now says it holds 846,000 bitcoin, worth roughly $71.9 billion at current prices, with an average purchase price of $75,416. That’s a monster position — more than 4% of bitcoin’s total supply cap — and it leaves the company sitting on about $8.1 billion in paper gains, at least for now.
Why the stock is jumping
MSTR has been on a tear, up 16.39% on Friday and another 8.6% in Monday trading at the time of publication. The stock pushed back above its 200-day EMA and ripped through a descending trendline, which is trader-speak for “the chart finally looks less sad.”
The filing also showed:
- Strategy repurchased 1.77 million STRC preferred shares for about $174 million
- It used $57.4 million to fund preferred dividends and debt interest
- Its USD Reserve stood at $5.04 billion, with $1.05 billion in cash
Big picture
This isn’t just a bitcoin-buying story; it’s Strategy signaling that its preferred-stock juggling act may be stabilizing enough to let the bitcoin accumulation machine spin again. For investors, that means MSTR still behaves like a leveraged bet on bitcoin — with extra drama baked in.
