Bitcoin did the heavy lifting
Strategy’s latest flex is mostly a Bitcoin story wearing a corporate suit. As BTC climbed back to $85,000, the company’s huge pile of coins flipped from a roughly $10 billion unrealized loss to an $8 billion unrealized profit. Translation: when Bitcoin sneezes, MSTR either catches a cold or shows up in a tux.
The company kept buying anyway
And just to keep the plot moving, Strategy bought 950 Bitcoin for $75.7 million between September 14th and September 20th at an average price of $79,670 each. That ended a nearly month-long pause and bumped its stash to 846,000 BTC — a pile so large it now accounts for more than 4% of Bitcoin’s fixed supply cap.
Not just stacking sats
Strategy also repurchased 1.77 million STRC preferred shares for about $174 million in the same stretch. That’s the company trying to keep its preferred stock closer to par while still funneling cash into more Bitcoin. In other words: it’s not just a crypto bet, it’s a capital-structure juggling act.
Why investors care
MSTR jumped 9.47% Monday and even after that pop, traders are watching whether the stock can hold above its 200-day EMA around $152. The move has the vibe of a summer blockbuster sequel: exciting, a little overcooked, and definitely not something you want to chase blindly with RSI already flashing overbought.
Big picture: Strategy is still behaving like Bitcoin with a balance sheet, which means the stock’s fate is tied to the coin’s next move — for better or worse.
