The selloff doesn’t tell the whole story
Circle is having one of those classic “the stock is down, but the thesis is doing just fine” moments. The share price has been chopped in half, crypto markets have been a little moody, and yet the company keeps pointing to the same two things that matter most: regulatory credibility and usage growth.
Why the charter matters
Circle says it secured a federal trust bank charter, which is basically the corporate version of getting the right badge to walk into the VIP room. For a company pushing USDC as the settlement asset institutions should want to use, that’s a pretty big flex. In crypto, trust is the product — and Circle is trying to make sure it’s the house that looks most trustworthy.
The usage story is still alive
Even with the broader market in a slump, USDC circulation and onchain transaction volume are still growing. That matters because stablecoins don’t just live on vibes; they need real usage. More circulation and more transactions mean the network is still getting pulled into actual financial plumbing, not just speculation and memes.
The 40% target stays on the board
Management also reiterated its 40% multi-year CAGR target, which is a bold way of saying: yes, the stock chart looks like a ski slope, but the long-term plan is still in place. If Circle can keep growing volume while keeping regulators comfortable, the bull case gets a lot sturdier.
Big picture: Circle doesn’t need the crypto market to be euphoric to keep building. It just needs institutions to keep treating USDC like a serious piece of financial infrastructure — and that story is still very much alive.
