CEO sells, investors squint
Cadence Design Systems said CEO Anirudh Devgan sold 3,779 shares, a transaction valued at about $1.1 million based on a weighted-average price of $280.76 a share. That’s not exactly pocket change, even for a software CEO.
So… should you care?
Insider sales can mean a few different things. Maybe the executive wants to diversify a little. Maybe taxes are due. Or maybe the stock has gotten rich enough that the CEO wanted to lock in some gains. The tricky part: one sale is rarely a huge tell by itself.
What investors tend to look for is pattern recognition. If the selling keeps happening, or if multiple insiders head for the exits at once, that can get more interesting fast. But a single transaction? More “hmm” than “uh-oh.”
Big picture: Cadence is still the kind of company that investors usually follow for its business momentum, not every CEO trade. This one is worth noting, but probably not worth a panic button.
