Another customer, another notch on the belt
Surf Air Mobility says it struck a definitive deal with SkyDance Air for OperatorOS, its flight-operations software for Part 135 operators. If that sounds a little niche, that’s because it is — but niche software can be a beautiful thing when it starts turning into recurring revenue.
Why this matters
SkyDance is the second-largest single-fleet operator of Cirrus Vision Jets in North America and currently runs three aircraft, with plans to grow to about 10 by 2027. For Surf Air, the important part isn’t just the logo on the customer list. It’s that the company gets a percentage of revenue from flights managed through OperatorOS, which is exactly the kind of “software does the heavy lifting while the check clears” setup investors like.
The Palantir piece
OperatorOS is powered by Palantir Technologies, so PLTR gets a cameo here too. But the real story is Surf Air trying to turn its broader SurfOS platform — BrokerOS, OperatorOS and OwnerOS — into a connected aviation stack that can replace the usual Frankenstein of scattered scheduling and recordkeeping tools.
The company says this is its second commercial OperatorOS contract and keeps it on track for five operators on the platform by the end of 2026. Big picture: if Surf Air can keep stacking customers, this stops being a “cool software idea” and starts looking like an actual business.
