A not-so-stylish finish
Stitch Fix wrapped fiscal 2026 with a report that had a little bit of lipstick, but not enough to hide the blemish. The company beat expectations on losses, posting 2 cents per share versus the 6-cent loss analysts expected. Nice. But the part investors actually cared about? Revenue.
It came in at $324.42 million, just under the Street’s $325.5 million target. That’s not a catastrophic miss, but in the market, “just under” can still mean “please exit stage left,” especially when the stock is already on shaky footing.
The real bruise: next year’s outlook
The bigger swing factor was guidance. Stitch Fix said fiscal 2027 revenue should land between $1.31 billion and $1.36 billion, below the $1.41 billion analysts were looking for. And when a company says, “We’re improving,” but the top line says, “Maybe not that much,” investors tend to hear the second part louder.
A few other data points from the quarter:
- Active clients fell to 2.277 million, down 1.4% from both the prior quarter and a year ago
- Net revenue per active client rose to $592, up 7.8% year over year
- Gross margin held flat at 43.6%
Why you should care
CEO Matt Baer called fiscal 2026 a “transformative year,” with a healthier business and a reimagined client experience. That’s great on a slide deck. But in public markets, transformation usually needs a sidekick: growth. Without that, the stock can still get treated like a before-photo.
The market’s verdict was loud and immediate: SFIX dropped 18.44% in after-hours trading to $2.30. Big picture: investors are willing to forgive a small revenue miss if the growth story is sturdy. Here, the outlook says the story still needs work.
