A rare BlackBerry glow-up
BlackBerry just walked into earnings season looking a lot less like a relic and a lot more like a company with a pulse. In Q2 fiscal 2027, revenue climbed 26% year over year and adjusted EBITDA jumped 81%, which is the kind of math that makes investors perk up and check if their screen brightness is on.
QNX did the heavy lifting
The big hero here was QNX, which posted a record quarter and helped power the overall beat. Management also called out the first Alloy Core design win with Cortora, a milestone that could matter more than it sounds — especially if it opens the door to higher average selling prices per vehicle down the line.
Guidance got a little more optimistic
BlackBerry didn’t just pat itself on the back and go home. It raised full-year guidance for both revenue and adjusted EBITDA, while also pointing to steady growth in Secure Communications. The company did note some geopolitical uncertainty, because apparently no earnings call is complete without a polite reminder that the world is still weird.
The cash pile gives it options
BlackBerry ended the quarter with about $447 million in cash and investments and generated $29 million in operating cash flow. That gives management some real flexibility — they said they can keep investing in growth, shop for M&A, or potentially buy back shares if the mood strikes.
Big picture: BlackBerry is still a transformation story, but this quarter made the story sound a lot less like a rerun and a lot more like an actual plot twist.
