A stock dip, but not a story dip
Marvell Technology got dragged a bit lower Thursday as tech overall had a rough session. The Nasdaq slid, the S&P 500 sagged, and semis did what semis often do when investors get a little twitchy: they got sold first and asked questions later.
The AI bulls are still banging the drum
The bigger headline is that Bank of America’s Vivek Arya is still pounding the table on Marvell’s AI setup. He said the company may be underestimating its artificial intelligence opportunity after meetings with management, and he put a $365 price target on the stock while reiterating a Buy rating.
Arya’s math is spicy in the best way:
- He thinks the custom AI chip and related components market could hit about $300 billion by 2030.
- He sees Marvell potentially taking about $30 billion of a $60 billion to $65 billion XPU attach market.
- He also says Marvell is supplying all four major U.S. cloud providers, which is the kind of customer list that makes Wall Street sit up straight.
Why you should care
Marvell lives and dies by data-center spending and AI infrastructure demand. So even if the stock gets caught in a risk-off selloff today, the analyst chatter says the bigger long-term story is still intact: if hyperscalers keep spending, Marvell has a seat at the table.
There’s also an Oct. 6 analyst day coming up, which could give investors a fresh update on market opportunity, margins, and the earnings outlook. Translation: the next catalyst is already circled on the calendar.
Big picture: the stock can wobble on macro noise, but the AI thesis is still very much doing the heavy lifting.
