Two shots on goal, two reasons to pay attention
Johnson & Johnson just delivered a pair of clinical updates that make its drug pipeline look a little less like a sleepy dividend machine and a little more like a legit growth engine. Tremfya, the immunology drug, hit its primary and main secondary endpoints in a Phase 4 study for psoriatic arthritis. Meanwhile, Carvykti — J&J’s cell therapy crown jewel — posted eye-catching five-year follow-up data in multiple myeloma.
Tremfya keeps the momentum
In the STAR trial, Tremfya improved disease activity scores, easing the stuff that makes arthritis miserable: spinal pain, morning stiffness, fatigue, and joint symptoms. It also cut axial inflammation, and the safety profile didn’t throw any new curveballs. For J&J, that matters because every successful readout helps keep Tremfya looking like more than just another immunology drug in a crowded field.
Carvykti's long game looks pretty strong
The CAR-T story was the bigger wow factor. In the CARTITUDE-2 follow-up, half the treated patients were still alive and progression-free five years later without maintenance therapy. That’s the kind of number that makes oncology investors sit up straighter in their chairs. The company did note some safety events, but the overall long-term profile looked consistent with what it has seen before.
Big picture
The stock dipped a hair, but the message here is straightforward: J&J keeps stacking clinical evidence across major franchises. In pharma-land, good data is oxygen — and right now J&J’s pipeline is breathing just fine.
