New day, new mood swing
Dell is back in the green Friday, reversing some of Thursday’s nervous selling as the market broadly catches a bid. The stock had just taken a 4.9% hit over the prior five trading days, so this rebound is less “victory lap” and more “okay, exhale.”
Why Oracle got the side-eye
The earlier selloff tied back to reports that Oracle sent a force majeure notice to Stack Infrastructure over delays tied to Project Jupiter, its giant 2.45-gigawatt data-center campus in New Mexico. Translation: if construction or permitting drags past the 2028 timeline, Oracle could try to push out some payment obligations.
Dell matters here because it supplies Oracle Cloud Infrastructure with the boring-but-essential stuff that makes the AI boom go brrr:
- x86 enterprise servers
- custom liquid-cooled PowerEdge AI racks
- enterprise storage arrays
So when Oracle sneezes, Dell investors wonder if the server buffet gets cut back too.
The market’s saying: calm down
Oracle later said Project Jupiter is still on schedule and it remains fully committed to New Mexico, which helped take some heat out of the trade. Meanwhile, Dell’s bigger-picture chart still looks like a staircase to the moon — up sharply above its key moving averages, though that also means the stock is pretty stretched if momentum cools.
Big picture: this is one of those “AI infrastructure trade” days where one headline can rattle the whole room. Dell isn’t being rewarded for a new product here — it’s being rewarded for not looking like the problem.
