BTIG’s message: the AI security story isn’t done yet
Palo Alto Networks got a fresh nod from BTIG, which reiterated a Buy and hiked its price target from $404 to $425. The broker’s pitch is basically: the AI security buffet still has more on the table, and PANW may be able to go back for seconds.
Why the Street should care
BTIG’s Gray Powell said recent talks with management pointed to upside in both revenue and NGS ARR in fiscal 2027. That matters because recurring revenue is the financial version of a subscription treadmill — once it starts rolling, investors tend to like the visibility.
Among the products getting the most attention:
- Chronosphere: already above $500 million in ARR, with room to grow through cross-sell opportunities in PANW’s 1,000+ XSIAM customer base.
- CyberArk integration: early results sound encouraging, with stronger cross-sell activity and faster ACV growth.
- Prisma AIRS: the AI security platform is expanding beyond firewall and runtime protection into identity, endpoint security, and observability — basically turning into the Swiss Army knife of AI defense.
Powell also argued Palo Alto could top 17% pro forma revenue growth this year, above the Street’s 14.6% expectation. That’s the kind of gap that can make a stock chart look a lot less sleepy.
The investor takeaway
The stock was already up nearly 4% on the day at publication, so the market clearly liked the tune. But the bigger story is that BTIG sees Palo Alto’s AI security bundle as a multi-year growth engine, not just a one-quarter headline.
Big picture: if management can keep turning AI security into recurring revenue, PANW’s growth story might still be in the early innings — which is exactly what bulls want to hear.
