New price target, same cautious vibe
Bloom Energy got a fresh jolt Tuesday after Jefferies raised its price target to $264 from $229. The catch? The firm still kept a Hold rating, which is basically Wall Street’s version of “nice shirt, but I wouldn’t bet the house on it.”
Why the bulls still have a case
Jefferies said Bloom’s on-site power generation story still looks solid even with some project hiccups. The analyst pointed to a $25 billion financing setup tied to Brookfield, a $2.65 billion firm order from AEP, and an expected 2 gigawatts of installed capacity by year-end as reasons the near-term growth setup hasn’t broken.
The annoying part: permits
The real problem, according to the note, is not demand — it’s the bureaucratic swamp. Bloom’s Jupiter and Vineland projects are facing delays tied to permitting around air, water, gas and local approvals. In other words, the business may be fine, but the paperwork is doing its best impression of a traffic jam.
Big picture
Jefferies’ takeaway is pretty classic analyst-speak: the growth story looks real, but revenue concentration in a handful of contested projects could make the stock jumpy whenever headlines flare up. So yes, Bloom is still a story stock — just one with a lot of plot twists.
