Robinhood’s new side hustle: AI as your trading buddy
Robinhood is leaning hard into agentic finance, unveiling Robinhood Agents — bots that can analyze markets, build strategies, and execute trades on their own. CEO Vlad Tenev is pitching it like access to the kind of tooling hedge funds hoard in a locked room, except now it lives in your app.
The app is turning into a little Wall Street mall
The company says more than 150,000 customers have already opened agentic accounts since May, and those agents are hammering Robinhood’s data about 30 million times a day. That’s not a casual side quest; that’s a sign users are actually poking at the feature.
Robinhood is also rolling out Agent Apps, a subscription marketplace where outside firms like Unusual Whales and Nasdaq can sell premium market data right inside the trading flow. Think of it as turning the brokerage app into a mini app store for finance nerds.
Why investors should care
This is less about a shiny AI demo and more about Robinhood trying to deepen engagement, add subscription-style revenue, and make the app stickier. If the company can keep traders inside its ecosystem longer, and maybe charge for premium tools, that’s the kind of thing investors love almost as much as a meme-stock spike.
Big picture: Robinhood is trying to become the operating system for retail trading, not just the place where you tap “buy” and hope for the best.
