Wall Street’s latest pep talk
Microsoft didn’t exactly need a miracle on Wednesday, but it got a little extra swagger anyway. Piper Sandler raised its price target on the stock to $610 from $550 and kept an Overweight rating, basically saying, “Yep, still likes the heavyweight.”
Why the upgrade matters
This isn’t just a random sticker price change on a terminal screen. The analyst is getting more bullish on Microsoft’s shift toward higher-priced E7 tiers and usage-based AI revenue from Copilot and Cowork. In other words, the market is getting another nudge that Microsoft’s AI monetization story may be more than just flashy demos and keynote confetti.
The numbers behind the hype
Piper Sandler thinks:
- Every 10% of customers moving from E5 to E7 could add about $2 billion in annualized revenue
- Copilot and Cowork could hit a $2 billion annualized run rate by the end of fiscal 2028
- That consumption-style revenue could scale faster than Microsoft’s earlier seat-based Copilot rollout
That’s a pretty neat setup if you’re a Microsoft bull: more premium pricing, more AI usage, and more confidence that Office 365 still has legs. The stock was up about 1.94% to $518.83 at the time of publication, with the broad tech tape also helping.
Big picture
Microsoft keeps collecting bullish analyst notes like it’s building a shrine to enterprise software dominance. The stock doesn’t need every call to be perfect, but when Wall Street keeps lifting targets, it usually helps the “show me the money” crowd sleep a little better.
