Meta’s new side quest: enterprise AI
Meta is apparently done letting AI just be the cool feature your friend shows off at brunch. The company has launched an enterprise AI platform and tapped MongoDB’s CEO to lead the new initiative, which is a pretty loud signal that Meta wants a bigger slice of business software money.
Why this matters
If you’re an investor, this is less about another shiny product launch and more about Meta trying to build a second act. Ads still pay the bills, but enterprise AI could give the company a way to monetize its models, tools, and infrastructure outside the social-feed circus.
The talent grab says a lot
Hiring a sitting CEO from a public software company is not exactly a casual move. It suggests Meta wants someone who knows how to sell to businesses, not just ship consumer-friendly AI toys.
Big picture
Meta’s AI strategy is looking increasingly like a full-stack business: consumer apps on one side, enterprise products on the other. If it works, investors get a cleaner growth story. If it doesn’t, it’s just another expensive science project with nicer branding.
