New deal, same hype machine
Snowflake was having one of those “the market suddenly remembers I exist” days, with the stock up about 4% as traders leaned back into cloud and AI software names. But this wasn’t just vibe-driven buying — the company also announced that LSEG is expanding its collaboration under a new five-year, enterprise-wide agreement.
Why this matters
The pitch is pretty straightforward: LSEG brings the financial data and market infrastructure, while Snowflake brings the AI Data Cloud. Put them together and you get a cleaner path for financial institutions to use AI on licensed data without duct-taping together a dozen different systems.
The expanded deal also includes:
- broader access to LSEG data through Snowflake Marketplace
- more joint go-to-market work
- deeper Snowflake usage across analytics, reporting, AI, and risk intelligence
- use of LSEG’s World-Check services for onboarding and third-party risk management
The market’s still in a mood
Snowflake is still hanging above its major moving averages, which is trader-speak for “the chart isn’t ugly yet.” But momentum has cooled a bit, so this is less a rocket ship and more a stock trying to keep its altitude while the AI crowd keeps rotating in and out.
The bigger investor question is whether this partnership translates into actual usage and revenue, not just another glossy press release with a lot of words like governed workflows and enterprise-wide. If Snowflake can keep turning big-name data relationships into sticky platform demand, the market will keep giving it the benefit of the doubt.
Big picture: Snowflake got a real business catalyst here, not just a sympathy bounce from the cloud/AI trade — and that’s the kind of news investors actually like to see.
