New gear, same drone problem
Ondas is back with more hardware for the growing anti-drone arms race. The company said it launched Dronebuster REACH, a long-range version of its Dronebuster family of non-kinetic counter-UAS systems — basically the difference between swatting a mosquito and using a sniper scope for the mosquito.
Why investors should care
The first REACH system is already under contract to deliver to the Office of Naval Research after acceptance testing. That matters because defense tech investors tend to care less about shiny product names and more about whether the thing actually ships to someone with a budget.
- It expands Ondas' counter-UAS lineup into longer-range territory
- It gives the company a named government customer, not just a slide deck
- It adds another potential revenue stream inside a defense market that’s getting more attention by the day
The bigger picture
This launch comes just days after Ondas was talking up its growth ambitions and shopping spree in defense tech. So the company is clearly trying to build a bigger defense platform, not just toss out a one-off product announcement.
Big picture: if Ondas keeps turning launches into contracts, investors may start treating it less like a story stock and more like a defense supplier with actual pull-through.
