Bigger, louder, more quantum
Quantum Computing Inc. is back with a bigger toy in the sandbox: Dirac-3S, the next-gen version of its Dirac-3 optimization machine. The company says the new system can scale to nearly 10,000 variables, up from about 1,000 today — which is the kind of leap that makes the pitch deck look less like a demo and more like an actual product roadmap.
Why investors should care
This isn’t just about bragging rights in quantum-land. QCi is framing Dirac-3S as a step toward commercial deployment, with faster performance, production-ready reliability, and scalable manufacturing all getting their own spotlight. In other words, the company is trying to move from “cool lab thing” to “something a customer might actually pay for.”
The real test: can it ship?
The first customer shipment of the Dirac-3S upgrade is expected in Q4 2026, and that’s the part to watch. Plenty of frontier-tech companies can announce bigger numbers; fewer can turn those numbers into repeatable shipments, revenue, and something resembling a business model.
Big picture
For QUBT, this is another reminder that the stock still trades on the promise of commercialization. If Dirac-3S gets from headline to hardware in customers’ hands, that’s meaningful. If not, it’s just another very expensive science fair project with a better press release.
